CENTRE FOR POWER SYSTEM
PROTECTION & SUBSTATION AUTOMATION

The SHF Centre for Power System Protection & Automation is a dedicated engineering competency centre focused on developing technically strong, field-ready professionals in protection, relay testing, and substation automation systems.

Modern substations are no longer conventional electrical installations. They are intelligent, digitally integrated environments where protection relays, automation systems, communication networks, and control architectures operate in coordination. Engineers working in this domain must possess not only conceptual clarity but also practical competence in configuring, testing, analysing, and integrating protection systems.

At SHF, training is delivered through structured, progressive programs that combine strong theoretical foundations with extensive hands-on exposure. Participants work directly on industrial-grade protection relays, control panels, and professional testing equipment from globally recognized manufacturers including GE, SEL, Siemens, MICOM, ABB, Schneider, and ZIV.

SHF operates with a clear philosophy

We believe protection engineering is a responsibility-driven discipline. A single configuration error can impact system stability, equipment safety, and grid reliability. To transform electrical engineers into confident protection and automation professionals capable of contributing effectively in utilities, EPC projects, testing & commissioning assignments, and digital substation environments.

🖥️ This is not classroom training.

It is professional engineering development. Every session is designed around real-world application, industrial equipment, and field-level competence building.

⚡ Field-Ready Engineers

Programs are designed to systematically guide participants from fundamental power system understanding to advanced protection engineering, relay testing, fault analysis, and SAS integration with IEC 61850 communication concepts.

🏭 Industry-Grade Equipment

Practical sessions conducted using Megger SMRT46 relay testing equipment, enabling real-time secondary injection testing and validation of protection schemes.
