Fundamentals of Power System & Substation (1 Week)

Program Structure

  • Classroom-based theory
  • Physical identification of substation components
  • Demonstration using real relays and panels (introductory level)

Day-wise Schedule

  • Day 1: Power system overview using training panels and diagrams.
  • Day 2: Substation types and layouts with control rack exposure.
  • Day 3: Single Line Diagram (SLD) reading using real panel drawings.
  • Day 4: Primary equipment overview (CB, CT, PT, LA) with demonstrations.
  • Day 5: Introduction to protection systems and numerical relays (GE, SEL, Siemens).

Outcome of Level 1

  • Identify substation components
  • Understand SLDs and protection zones
  • Recognize different types of protection relays
  • Understand basic protection philosophy
